Wanting to ease into this undertaking, I’ve chosen a pretty simple Fact o’ the Day as the first.
When you think of “Casablanca,” two of the all-time most well-known movie quotes probably come to mind: “Here’s looking at you, kid” and “Play it again, Sam.” The first actually appears in the film. The second doesn’t. And Humphrey Bogart’s line doesn’t even come the closest.
That distinction belongs to Ingrid Bergman, whose character says, “Play it, Sam.” Bogart’s line is actually “You played it for her, you can play it for me. If she can stand it, I can. Play it!”
And now you know.
